“If this is your first time encountering this, I recently shared my complete melanoma journey on @tscpodcast. Please take a moment to listen when you can,” she noted in her caption.
“For those who have heard it before, I hope this serves as a valuable reminder ❤️,” Mellencamp concluded, posing the question, “Who is making their appointment today?” and incorporating the hashtags #melanomaawareness #curemelanoma.
In the podcast segment, Mellencamp recounted that she had a “ginormous patch” on her shoulder since birth, followed by the emergence of marks on her back that resembled sunspots. “I didn’t take it seriously, and I was unaware that skin cancer posed a significant risk,” she remarked.
“Over the next three years, I believe I underwent more than 20 surgeries,” the television personality disclosed.

According to VeryWell Health, melanoma is “less prevalent than other types of skin cancer, [but] it is the most perilous. If not identified promptly, it can rapidly metastasize to other organs.”
Mellencamp has chronicled her battle with cancer on social media, sharing a striking image of her surgical scar in December 2023. At that time, she had received a diagnosis of her 13th melanoma, following a stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in 2022.

Approximately one year later, in December 2024, Mellencamp shared positive news after having 17 cancerous lesions excised. In an Instagram video, she informed her followers that she would not require another biopsy after undergoing multiple skin examinations over the preceding two years.
“I just finished having a little cry, but it was a happy one,” she stated in the video dated December 16, adding, “For the first time in over two years, I went in for my three-month check-up and did not need a biopsy because I did not have another cancer spot.”
Mellencamp expressed her astonishment, recalling that she and her doctor exchanged looks of disbelief, saying, “‘What?’”
“Oh my gosh, what a wonderful feeling,” she remarked, noting that she would return in March for another three-month skin examination.
“This should serve as a reminder to all of you, please, please schedule your skin checks, mammograms, OBGYN appointments, and eye doctor visits,” she concluded in the video.
