Bowie State Athletics has announced the passing of Amani Miles, a member of the student support staff for Bowie State Football.
Amani, hailing from Silver Springs, MD, was set to graduate in 2024 from the University, where she served as a student manager. The specific cause of her death has not been disclosed. It has been suggested that her ongoing health issues related to her congenital heart condition may have contributed to her passing. Reports indicate that these heart defects can lead to serious complications, and Amani has faced significant medical challenges since birth
In a statement, Bowie State Athletics expressed their sorrow over the loss. “We are profoundly saddened to announce the passing of our cherished @bowiestfootball student support staff, Amani Miles,” the statement read. “Amani’s presence was a beacon of inspiration and strength for us all.”
Amani earned her degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Bowie State University in 2024. While pursuing her studies, she held the position of Head Football Equipment Manager and participated in various extracurricular activities, including membership in Bowie State Circle K International and the Bowie State Cab Street Team.
She celebrated her graduation in December, sharing joyful photos in her cap and gown, and expressing her excitement over achieving her business administration degree. A cousin also honored her accomplishments with a congratulatory photo.
Born on January 6, 2002, Amani had recently turned 23 years old.
Bowie State Athletics conveyed their heartfelt condolences to Amani’s family and friends following her untimely passing. Her classmates from the class of 2024 also paid tribute to her memory.
“To our fallen Bulldog, Amani Miles – a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and eternal Bowie Bulldog. We have lost a sweet and innocent soul far too soon. From her role as equipment manager to her proud graduation in Business Marketing in Fall 2024, Amani made an indelible impact. Her light and kindness touched many lives, and her legacy will forever remain in our hearts,” the group stated.
