“I was recently diagnosed with a host of neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities! At 46!” he wrote on Twitter, adding that he thinks his news will help other people who are going through something similar.
“It’s not something I would normally talk about publicly but I figured there are others who struggle with similar things and I wanted to remind you that you’re not alone. You’re not stupid. You’re not ‘bad,’ ” he went on. “It might feel that way sometimes. But it’s not true :)”

McElhenney said that he and co-stars Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day will talk more about the news on their podcast “The Always Sunny Podcast” later this month.
The actor’s health is a major concern for him, so he’s always been a target of attention.
“I meditate and practice TM [transcendental meditation],” the “Welcome to Wrexham” star told Interview magazine at the time.
“That’s been invaluable to me, and if you want to talk about exercise, I did find over the last few years —and I’m not trying to bro out or push some exercise agenda — but actual physical exercise has transformed not only my body, but my spirit.”
“Not to sound too woo-woo, but exorcising the demons through actual sweat alleviates so much anxiety and stress. And I truly feel better. But yeah, the closest thing I have to a spiritual practice would be TM,” he added.
In terms of his health, McElhenney said last year that he and his friend Ryan Reynolds had both gotten “potentially life-saving” colonoscopies after making a bet.
Reynolds made a deal with McElhenney. He said that if McElhenney learned to speak Welsh, Reynolds, who is known for his role in “Deadpool,” would allow a camera crew to film his colonoscopy procedure.
The two people chose to work with Lead From Behind, an organization that raises awareness about colon cancer, to get people to get screened when they turn 45.
In a September 2022 YouTube video posted to Reynolds’ page, the two said they wanted to show how the “simple step” can “save lives.” Reynolds said at the time, “I would never have a medical procedure be filmed and then shared.”
“But it’s not every day that you can raise awareness about something that will most definitely save lives. That’s enough motivation for me to let you in on a camera being shoved up my ass.”
