The two accused in the Edmonton shooting of a security guard have yet to plead, as their lawyers request more time for trial preparations.
Edmonton: So, here’s the scoop. The two folks charged with the murder of a security guard in downtown Edmonton still haven’t entered a plea. Their lawyers, both 30 years old, told the judge they need more time to figure things out, like whether they want a judge or a jury for the trial.
Evan Rain and Judith Saulteaux are facing serious charges related to the tragic death of Harshandeep Singh, who was just 20 years old. He was shot on December 6 and sadly passed away after only three days on the job with National Security Guard Protection Services.
Neither Rain nor Saulteaux showed up in court via CCTV, but they’re expected back on February 5. Singh had moved to Canada from Haryana, India, about a year and a half ago on a student visa and was studying at NorQuest College.
The police found him unresponsive at the scene, and an autopsy confirmed he died from a gunshot wound, ruling it a homicide. It’s a heartbreaking situation, and everyone is waiting to see how it unfolds.
