Police have reopened an exclusion zone established yesterday after a man allegedly threatened officers with a spear gun.
Queensland Police established an exclusion zone at about 10.30am on Friday, after reports of a disturbance at a property in Bungalow, Cairns.
An emergency situation was declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) at 12pm, with boundaries set up on Little Spence Street, Buchan Street, Kidston Street and Hartley Street.
Police alleged that they tried to engage with a man when they were threatened with a speargun, which was fired at the officers.
The public were told to stay away from the area during the operation.
The PSPA was revoked at 2.17am with the emergency situation de-escalated.
A 46-year-old man is “assisting police with their enquiries”.
The investigation continues.
