Legal proceedings continue for five hockey players charged with sexual assault
Dillon Dube, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Cal Foote, and Alex Formenton were charged with sexual assault last year. This incident reportedly happened almost six years ago in London, Ontario.
McLeod has an extra charge for being involved in the assault. All five players are expected to plead not guilty. The jury trial is set to kick off on April 22, with Justice Maria Carroccia presiding.
Right now, we can’t share any details from this week’s hearings or previous ones due to a publication ban. It’s a bit frustrating, but that’s the way it goes.
Interestingly, the police initially closed their investigation back in 2019 without any charges. They reopened it three years later after finding new evidence. Not much info has come out about what they found, though.
