Fond du Lac: A 19-year-old guy got himself into serious trouble after admitting he started a fire at a congressman’s office. This happened over the weekend, and he said it was all because of the TikTok ban.
The fire broke out at a strip mall where Rep. Glenn Grothman’s office is located. The police found the guy nearby and arrested him. It’s wild to think that a TikTok ban could lead to something like this.

Grothman, a Republican, was one of the many lawmakers who voted for a bill that could force TikTok’s parent company to sell its US operations or face a ban. The local fire department reported that the fire caused moderate damage but thankfully no one got hurt. They’re looking into it since it seemed suspicious.
The suspect, who hasn’t been named, is from Menasha, Wisconsin. He confessed to starting the fire because of the TikTok situation. Grothman mentioned he was still trying to figure out what happened, saying, “somebody tried to set a fire over TikTok.”
Interestingly, Grothman has been vocal about banning TikTok from government devices, calling it a national security threat. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court recently upheld the TikTok ban, but the app was back up for users after a brief outage. President-elect Donald Trump even said he’d delay the ban, which was a relief for many TikTok users who were worried about losing access.
