It’s understood a dark-coloured Ford Ranger cut off another car on the Hume Highway in Wodonga, before the Ranger stopped in the middle of the Melrose Drive off-ramp at about 3.15pm on Friday, June 21.
Police were told two men got out of the Ranger and attacked a 33-year-old man on the road.
They got back in the Ranger and fled the scene, heading towards Maloney Drive.
The 33-year-old was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Police have now released images of two men they believe may be able to help the investigation.
