But they were caught when CCTV captured the group scouting out a property by looking through the window before making off with goods inside.

Detectives then tracked a car used in the break in and found a screwdriver with Thomas Berry’s DNA on it had been left inside.

Organised crime officers traced Berry and his known associates which resulted in them stopping his twin brother’s Audi A3 on the M56 last December.

Phillip Berry was jailed for four years and two months, while his twin brother Thomas was sentenced to four years and one month.

Adam Purcell, 34, was jailed alongside them at Chester Crown Court for four years and nine months and a 17-year-old boy is yet to be sentenced.

All four admitted conspiracy to commit burglary.

Speaking after the sentence, Detective Chief Inspector Ian Murray, who leads Chester Police’s Serious and Organise Crime Unit said: ‘I welcome the sentences that have been handed out and I hope that they provide reassurance to the victims and the wider community.

‘The financial impact of burglary can be significant, but it’s the emotional effect of being burgled which often lasts much longer and should never be underestimated.

‘As a force we understand this and we hope this conviction goes as a warning to criminals who are looking to come to Cheshire, that in policing there are no borders, we work together to get criminals off our streets and behind bars where they belong.’
