The Summit County Medical Examiner will reveal Jazmir Tucker’s autopsy results at a press event this morning, shedding light on the case.
Akron: Today, the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office is set to share the findings from Jazmir Tucker’s autopsy at 9 a.m. Dr. Lisa Kohler will lead the discussion during a closed media event.
She’ll talk about the autopsy process and the office’s policies but won’t dive into the ongoing investigation. Afterward, reporters who got access will be able to see the autopsy report in person.
This comes about two months after 15-year-old Tucker was shot by Akron police officer Davon Fields on Thanksgiving night.
So, what went down that night? Fields and another officer were in their cruiser when they heard gunfire in the Sherbondy Hill area around 11 p.m. They went to check it out and found Tucker in front of Miller South school.
Body camera footage shows Fields chasing Tucker and firing his rifle about seven times. They waited around eight minutes for backup before approaching Tucker.
When they finally got to him, they found a gun in Tucker’s jacket. Two shell casings found nearby matched his firearm, according to the police.
Fields is currently on paid administrative leave while the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation looks into the case.
