The alleged plot involved hiding the meth in industrial machinery into Sydney Airport.
The meth seized was worth about $828 million, police said.
The investigation began after an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers, along with intelligence from the US Department of Homeland Security.
The Australian Federal Police and Australian Border Force are addressing the media.
