A Mansfield woman Karen Read has been accused of the murder of her boyfriend who was a Boston police officer John O’Keefe. According to the prosecution, Read was driving drunk when she killed O’Keefe.

  • January 29, 2022: O’Keefe was discovered mortally wounded on the lawn of his uncle’s Canton home early in the morning.
  • Two weeks prior: Read kissed Brian Higgins who is a crucial witness for the defense but the implication of this act is not clear.
  • Charges: Read is denying the charges of second-degree murder, and manslaughter while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene after causing injury or death in hit-and-run crashes.

Police Investigations

  • Colin Albert: Albert, another key witness for the defense claims that he left the house on Fairview Road at approximately 12:10 am on January 29, 2022, but his close friend Allison McCabe picked him up.
  • Allison McCabe: McCabe’s input is expected to be vital as she was together with Albert throughout that fateful night.

Defense Put Up By Karen Read

  • Frame-Up Allegations: Read’s attorneys argue that their client has been framed and the whole incident was just intended to cover up some truth about something else.
