An unlicenced driver has been arrested after posting videos of himself allegedly driving at almost triple the speed limit, police say.

Police allege the 29-year-old Craigmore man drove a grey Ford Falcon sedan down Main South Road, McLaren Vale at a speed of 177km/h in a 60km/h zone on Saturday, July 6.

Investigators claim footage of the incident was posted to social media by the driver.

Officers from the SA Police Traffic Services Branch arrested the man on July 31 and charged him with several offences including driving at an extreme speed and driving unlicenced.

The man also copped more extreme speed charges over two other incidents at Hillbank on August 14, 2023 and July 6 this year at Main South Road and Wheatsheaf Road, Morphett Vale.

He was granted bail to appear at court next month, had his car impounded and was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice, for if and when he actually applies for a valid driver’s permit.
