Staff at a Brisbane costume shop have been left traumatised after a wanted man was cornered by police inside their store.

The man locked himself inside Disguises Costumes in Woolloongabba on Thursday but was unable to disguise himself from pursuing officers.

“I do see the irony and and the humour behind somebody who is on the run from the police, instantly recognisable with his fully tattooed face, he comes into a store called disguises,” store owner Christine Owens told 9News.

The man was instead seen on security footage walking around in circles until police came bursting in.

“He was moving around a lot because he was very agitated, because in hindsight, of course, he was a trapped animal, wasn’t he,” Owens said.

Officers used Tasers to take the man down before he was arrested and placed behind bars on drug, assault and obstructing police charges.

“My staff are extremely traumatised by this experience,” Owens said.

“I’m very grateful it was over with very quickly and safely.”

Police said they had been wanting to speak to the man about other matters.

He will face court on July 3.
