If you tuned in to The White Lotus last night—episode 2 of season 3—you’ll have taken note as more details about each guest were revealed. Of all the characters, the Ratliff family has us scratching our heads the most. Eldest son Saxon, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger, leads the pack as the most unsettling member of this crew—with his siblings and unique mom and dad keeping fans curious as to what their journey will be. Last night, we finally got a glimpse thanks to a revealing phone call dad Timothy, played by Jason Isaacs, received. And did you happen to recognize the voice that was on the other end of the line?

A surprise phone call fuels the Ratliff family drama
Throughout episode one, we get the sense that something fishy is going on with the business end of Timothy’s life. He’s being contacted by a reporter, and when it comes to high-flying CEOs, that isn’t always a good thing. Come episode two, we learn the truth as to why he’s being pursued for a story—and it’s sus indeed.
After battling the time difference between Thailand and home back in North Carolina, Timothy finally managed to get on the phone with one of his past associates, Kenny—who just so happens to be none other than Ke Huy Quan! Did you catch this Academy Award winner’s voice on the other end of the phone?!
When Timothy connects with Kenny, it’s clear that things have gone south. Calling from a burner phone, Quan’s character reveals that the Ratliff patriarch made $10 million from a money laundering and bribery scheme the two were involved with years prior, and after a whistleblower leaked info to the press, his entire office was raided by the FBI, meaning Timothy’s involvement will soon be revealed. With his family blissfully unaware of what’s to come, we can only imagine what the next episodes will hold for Timothy and his curious family.

Will Ke Huy Quan return to ‘The White Lotus’?
While there’s no saying what the rest of this season will hold, we’re holding out hope that we’ll get a chance to actually see Ke Huy Quan’s character on the screen. Similarly, in season two, we heard another famous voice via phone call when none other than Laura Dern voiced the wife of Michael Imperioli’s character.
More ‘White Lotus’ season 3, episode 2 moments explained
Aside from the Ratliff family, a few other stories developed quite a bit in last night’s episode. For the group of gal pals, composed of Kate (Leslie Bibb), Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) and Laurie (Carrie Coon), we watched as the intricacies of their group dynamic evolved. Judgment, jealousy and a trace of competition permeate between these three longtime friends, and though to one another’s faces it’s as though they’re each other’s biggest fans, behind their backs, the conversations have a much different tone. We also witnessed a robbery take place at the resort, shaking up Aimee Lou Wood’s character and her new friend, Chloe. Her boyfriend, Rick, reveals that he’ll be heading to Bangkok, though the reason for his trip is unknown.
