Grammys producer Raj Kapoor has responded to the controversy surrounding Kanye West and Bianca Censori’s appearance on the red carpet.
As the executive producer for the 2025 Grammys, Kapoor noted the expectations for attire at the awards ceremony, suggesting that Censori and West may not have met these standards.

In an interview with *People* on Tuesday, Kapoor explained that the usual dress code for attendees is “artistic black-tie,” although he recognized that such guidelines can vary based on personal interpretation within the music industry.
He further elaborated that different “standards” are applied to guests depending on their role in the event; for example, while West, 47, was nominated for best rap song, he did not perform on stage.
“There is certainly a dress code for performers that we must adhere to,” Kapoor stated. “However, for those who are simply attending or are nominees, that is something for the [Recording] Academy to oversee.”
While the Academy has not released specific wardrobe rules, CBS issued a “wardrobe advisory” in 2013, which requested that “buttocks and female breasts” be “adequately covered” during the ceremony.
This advisory, shared with *Deadline*, also required that all on-camera participants, including audience members, follow the Network’s clothing policy.
Guests were encouraged to avoid wearing “sheer” or “see-through” outfits that could expose nipples or the “bare fleshy under curves of the buttock and buttock crack.”
Additionally, the advisory emphasized that the “genital region should be adequately covered to prevent any visible ‘puffy’ bare skin exposure.”
Despite this, Censori’s daring outfit seemed to flout nearly all of these guidelines.
The 30-year-old former Yeezy designer made a statement on the red carpet in a completely transparent minidress that appeared to be made from sheer stockings, leaving little to the imagination as she chose not to wear any undergarments.
At first, she wore a black fur coat, but she took it off after West allegedly encouraged her to “make a scene,” as interpreted by a lip reader.
He reportedly told her, “Drop it behind you and then turn, I got you,” to which she responded, “All right, let’s go.”
Sources indicate that the couple intended to recreate the cover of West’s “Vultures 1” album, where Censori was seen topless, wearing only thigh-high boots and a small piece of fabric covering her backside.
After their appearance on the red carpet, the couple left without attending the ceremony, choosing instead to celebrate at a private afterparty.
