Nigerian artist Tems has made waves by winning the Best African Music Performance award for her song “Love Me Jeje” at the 67th Grammy Awards, held on February 2, 2025.
This milestone marks a significant moment in her career, as it is her first solo Grammy win, following her earlier recognition for her collaboration on Future’s hit track “Wait For U” in 2023.

During her heartfelt acceptance speech, Tems expressed deep gratitude, dedicating the award to her mother, whose birthday happened to fall on the same day as the ceremony.
She shared, “Tomorrow is my mum’s birthday and this is her first Grammys. I just want to thank you ma because she has really done a lot for me and my brother.”
Tems’ triumph in a fiercely competitive category, which included well-known artists like Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, and Chris Brown with Davido & Lojay, underscores the growing influence of African music on the global stage.
This year’s awards particularly highlighted Nigeria’s dominance in the music scene, as all nominees in the Best African Music Performance category were Nigerian artists.
With this honor, Tems solidifies her status as one of Africa’s leading music icons and showcases the rich talent emerging from the continent.
