Four hooded killers face years in jail for knifing a teenager to death outside an 18th birthday party.

Shea Gordon, 17, was stabbed repeatedly on Lichfield Road, Mile End, east London, just after midnight on September 4 last year.

He ran from his attackers down another street before collapsing and suffering a cardiac arrest.

Kavian Vaughans and Abdul Yaro, both 18, denied but were convicted of murder by an Old Bailey jury today. Giovanni Addae-Johnson and Dainnan Witter Cameron, also both 18, were cleared of murder but convicted of the alternative lesser offence of manslaughter.

Their friends and relatives shouted and screamed in the public gallery as the sentence was announced. Two jurors were in tears as one woman shouted: ‘You wicked people.’

Judge Angela Rafferty, KC, said she is likely to pass sentence in the week of September 11.

Prosecutor Nicholas Corsellis, KC, earlier told the jury: ‘The occasion was an 18th birthday party being held for a young lady. It was a large event with many people expected to be in attendance. Given the numbers, security measures had been put in place to minimise possible disturbance.

‘There were security personnel searching attendees upon entry, a guest list, and guests were issued with wristbands. Shea Gordon was on the guest list as was Dainnan Witter Cameron. The young lady knew Giovanni Addae-Johnson but had not invited him to the party.

‘Neither Kavain Vaughans or Abdul Yaro had been invited as she did not know either of them.’

On 2 September Yaro was recorded speaking to an associate in prison and telling him he planned to ‘roll up’ at the party and ‘smack him up’, the court heard.

Three of the defendants travelled to the party in an Uber after Witter Cameron told them Shea was there, Mr Corsellis said.

Jurors were shown CCTV footage of four men entering the party wearing balaclavas and hoods.

The teenagers then did loops of the area before returning to the party at 23.55 and heading towards the crowd congregating outside, the court heard.

Mr Corsellis continued: ‘At 00.05 the CCTV shows several young people sprinting from the direction of the party venue towards Alloway Road. Shortly thereafter Shea Gordon is visible. He is running along in the same direction as the group along Lichfield Road and into Alloway Road. By this time he had been injured to some extent for, as he past a Peugeot car in Litchfield Road, his blood transferred to it.

‘He is followed by Witter Cameron and Vaughans who were a short distance behind and running after him into Alloway Road.

‘The defendants were not the only ones armed that night. For example the CCTV shows a male in grey armed with a large machete running away from and looking at the defendants as they pursue Shea Gordon.

‘Once on Alloway Road, Shea Gordon can be seen to run behind a car on the left.

‘He is followed by Vaughans and Witter Cameron who run down the left side of the road. Addae-Johnson crosses the road runs onto the pavement on the right going in the same direction as Shea Gordon and his two followers.

‘The film appears to show Shea Gordon turn to his right into Morgan Street. It was in that road that he was found fatally injured. The two following him go the same way. The CCTV shows movement on the corner of the two roads and after a passage of time Addae-Johnson is seen collapsed on the road.

‘There is no doubt he suffered a significant neck wound at some point.

‘Shea Gordon was found on Morgan Street about 40 metres away from where Addae-Johnson was found.’

Shea had been stabbed in the neck as well as two wounds to his right leg, the court heard. He died at the Royal London Hospital at 1.54am. The next day Yaro was heard telling a friend there had been ‘some mad ting yesterday’, the court heard.

Addae-Johnson, of John la Rose Court, Tottenham, Vaughans, of Blaydon Close, Tottenham, Witter Cameron of Galahad Road, Enfield and Yaro, of Chesnut Road, Tottenham, all denied murder.
