Sen. Chuck Grassley says that IRS agents were purposefully left out of a 2020 briefing to Hunter Biden prosecutor an alleged $10 million ‘criminal bribery scheme’ between Joe, Hunter and a foreign national.

According to a letter obtained by DailyMail.com that Grassley sent to Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss – who is prosecuting Hunter Biden for federal gun and tax crimes – the senator alleges obstruction of the Hunter probe by one of his top prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf.

Grassley says that according to IRS whistleblowers, Wolf ‘prevented investigators from seeking information about Joe Biden‘s involvement in Hunter Biden’s criminal business arrangements.’ Whistleblower Gary Shapley specifically stated that Wolf ‘discouraged’ investigators from pursuing Joe Biden-connected leads, including by thwarting a search warrant request of Biden’s Delaware guest house due to bad ‘optics,’ and that the prosecutor said there was ‘no specific criminality.’

The senator references a meeting on October 23, 2020 during which he says Department of Justice and FBI officials from the Pittsburgh Field Office briefed Wolf and agents from the Baltimore Field Office ‘with respect to the contents of the FBI-generated FD1023 alleging a criminal bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden’ without any IRS agents present.

According to a ‘highly credible’ whistleblower, an internal FBI FD-1023 memo created in 2020 based on information from a well-paid informant allegedly says then-Vice President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden each got $5 million ‘bribe’ from a Ukrainian foreign national in exchange for policy decisions. The national, a Burisma executive, also allegedly has phone recordings of Joe and Hunter that he kept as an ‘insurance policy.’

‘However, the meeting did not include any IRS agents,’ added Grassley in the July 9 letter.

The senator writes that ‘in light of AUSA Wolf’s alleged questionable and obstructive conduct during the course of your investigation,’ he’s seeking ‘clarification’ from Weiss with respect to the whistleblower allegations.

Hunter Biden agreed to a plea deal with Weiss last month, pleading guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and entering probation over a gun charge.

However, two IRS whistleblowers – including 14-year agent Gary Shapley – came forward to the House Ways and Means Committee last month and alleged that top Justice Department officials, including Attorney General Merrick Garland, interfered in the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden.

Shapley, who helped oversee the investigation into the president’s son, claims that Hunter Biden has been given preferential treatment by investigators looking into his tax affairs and lying on a gun permit application.

Shapley pointed to a WhatsApp message sent on July 30, 2017, by Hunter to Chinese Communist Party official Henry Zhao, threatening him to follow his ‘orders’ and saying his dad was with him. Shapley alleges he raised concerns about the WhatsApp message to DOJ prosecutors, who rebuffed his concerns.

Shapley also described an October 7, 2022, meeting with top IRS and FBI officials on the investigation into President Joe Biden’s son.

‘I was there, and I witnessed this personally,’ Shapley said during a Fox News interview, noting Weiss started by saying ‘he’s not the deciding person whether or not charges are filed or not.’

Shapley claimed the final decision was made by officials in Washington, D.C. He noted Weiss meet with the Matthew Graves, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, who was appointed by President Joe Biden, in March 2022.

‘After that occurred, he was no longer looking to charge,’ Shapley said.

‘I didn’t learn that fact until October 7 of 2022, so looking back to March of 2022. And that’s when David Weiss, in October 7, 2022, said that the D.C. U.S. attorney’s office will not allow us to charge there,’ Shapley responded.

Garland has denied interfering in the Hunter Biden probe and insists that Weiss has total authority over the case.

‘I don’t know how it would be possible for anybody to block him from bringing a prosecution,’ Garland said of Weiss.

‘As I said at the outset, Mr. Weiss was appointed by President Trump as the U.S. attorney in Delaware and assigned this matter during the previous administration.’

Garland said Weiss ‘would be permitted to continue his investigation and to make a decision to prosecute any way in which he wanted to and in any district in which he wanted to. Mr. Weiss has since sent a letter to the House Judiciary confirming he had that authority.

‘I don’t know how it would be possible for anybody to block him from bringing a prosecution, given that he has this authority,’ he said.

Sen. Bill Hagerty has raised questions about potential ‘political interference’ by Garland and Weiss based on their contradictory statements.

Weiss has stated that his charging authority in the Hunter criminal case is limited to his home district of Delaware, contradicting Garland’s multiple public assurances that he could bring charges in any district and has total control of the case without influence by DOJ leadership.

Hagerty, R-Tenn., told DailyMail.com in a statement Friday that the contradictions in statements made by the top officials involved in the Hunter probe stink of ‘political interference.’
