Social media feeds are filled with snaps that have been edited to perfection and we all know most people share idealised versions of themselves.
But these side-by-side shots reveal what people look like away from the filters, FaceTuning and careful posing.
From drink-driving to smuggling drugs into prison, no one looks perfect all of the time.
Here, MailOnline looks at how crooks’ social media snaps compare to their court appearances.

Mr Harley, who lives with his mother in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, eventually called in police when Felton began leaving gifts on his doorstep.
Mr Harley accused Felton of controlling him during their 21-month relationship.
At Chester magistrates’ court, Felton admitted harassment after her not guilty plea to coercive behaviour was accepted by prosecutors.
She was bailed for sentencing but could face up to six months behind bars.

A second man, Jonathan Chew, from Chelmsford, Essex, pleaded not guilty to the same charge.
Senior district judge Paul Goldspring told Hughes: ‘He (Prof Whitty) goes about his very difficult job without the expectation of yobs like you accosting him, assaulting him.
‘And to compound it all, he was further humiliated by that video being posted.’
Hughes, who wore a suit to the hearing, was given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for two years and was ordered to pay a total of £307 in fines and compensation.

The mother-of-one, a carer from Kearsley, Bolton, was detained on suspicion of drink driving but failed to give a breath test at the roadside due to her not blowing into the machine properly.
She later admitted drinking wine ahead of her journey and claimed she had only been driving erratically because she had got lost and ‘flustered’, momentarily taking her eyes off the road to pick up her son’s baby bottle which had fallen.
After the incident, Halliwell was ordered to face court and given an interim driving ban.
However, she was subsequently caught driving the same BMW 116 vehicle while subject to her ban and falsely gave her sister’s name as the driver to try and avoid repercussions.
At Wigan magistrates court Halliwell admitted to failing to provide a specimen of breath, being drunk in charge of a child, driving while disqualified and having no insurance.
The single mother escaped jail time and instead was ordered to complete a two-year community order and was banned from driving for 18 months.

This thug jeered at Professor Sir Chris Whitty while he was held in a headlock sang ‘West Ham til I die’ and vaped in court as he was handed his prison sentence last year.
Footage of the incident, lasting around 20 seconds and showing Chew alongside former estate agent Lewis Hughes, was widely shared on social media.
Appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Chew, of Chelmsford, Essex, admitted a charge of intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress to Prof Sir Chris.
He also admitted obstructing Pc Steven Ozden.
District judge Paul Goldspring jailed Chew for eight weeks and ordered him to pay £1,058 in costs and compensation.
It came after the judge interrupted proceedings to order Chew to stop vaping in the dock.

Doran was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, while Higgins was locked for 13 and a half years – both for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

When approached and asked about her criminal past she expressed frustration that her case had come back to public attention because of Gavan being jailed – and said she has tried hard to turn her life around.
Gunn told MailOnline: ‘I’ve moved on. It’s annoying this has all been dragged up again because another female guard has been jailed for the same offence.
‘I didn’t know her [Jennifer Gavan]. We never worked together.’

At Warrington Magistrates’ Court, Parker pleaded guilty to drink driving and two charges of being drunk in charge of the children – both of whom cannot be identified for legal reasons.
She was sentenced to eight weeks in jail but the term was suspended for 12 months.

Prosecutor Olivia Samuel said Morgan caused £7,900 of repairs in the scene of destruction as well as damage to personal items in the home in Swansea, South Wales.
Police were called to the scene to find ‘substantial’ internal and external damage after the incident at midnight on Christmas Eve in 2021.
The flat owner said she now felt afraid to stay in her bedroom which used to be a ‘safe space where I could feel calm and relaxed’.
Morgan was sentenced to ten weeks in prison, suspended for 15 months.
She was also ordered to attend twenty rehabilitation activity requirements and made subject to a nine month mental health treatment requirement.
Morgan was disqualified from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay £400 compensation.

McKnight appeared in Chester Magistrates Court where she admitted to failing to provide a specimen of breath.
She faced a possible six month jail sentence but was instead given a 12 month community corrections order, had her licence suspended for two years and was ordered to complete 60 hours unpaid work plus an additional 20 rehabilitation activity days with the probation service.
She was further ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge of £234.
