A ‘person of interest’ has been arrested in the brutal murder of a star neurosurgeon found shot multiple times in the head before being found in the attic of his mansion.
Dr. Devon Hoover, 53, was gunned down in what cops initially said was likely a domestic incident that turned deadly.
The beloved doctor was discovered Sunday after police carried out a welfare check when he failed to show up for a family party in Indiana, reports Fox 2.
Authorities initially said Hoover was shot once, however a medical examiner discovered Thursday he was shot multiple times in the head. His cause of death was officially determined as a homicide.
Detroit police announced the development Friday, and said they are ‘confident’ the arrested man ‘has information about what transpired’.

No arrests have been made in the case, however cops reportedly are tracking down a possible suspect nearly a week after Hoover’s body was discovered.
According to WDIV, police identified a ‘person of interest’, who they believe could lead to answers over what happened to the star neurosurgeon. Sources added to the outlet the operating theory is that Hoover knew his attacker.
Reports indicated there were no signs of forced entry in Hoover’s $1.2 million Detroit mansion, possibly suggesting the killer knew his home’s layout beforehand.
Hoover was believed to live alone, and his car was later discovered stranded on the west side of Detroit.
The killing stunned the doctor’s friends, colleagues and former patients, who spoke in glowing terms about the 53-year-old.
His former neighbor, Roland Radinski, who lives in a $3.2 million home built by K-Mart founder SS Kresge on Hoover’s opulent street, told DailyMail.com he ‘never had an argument’ with the surgeon in 15 years of knowing him.
He added those who knew the top doctor had ‘nothing but good things to say about him’, a notion echoed by many as tributes pour in for the slain surgeon.
‘We, the family of Devon Hoover, wish to express our profound sadness at the loss of a beloved son, brother, and uncle,’ Hoover’s relatives said in a statement.
‘We grieve his untimely death and will miss him greatly. We are so grateful for the many words of kindness and stories from people who were touched by his life. He was a gift from God and used his talents to bless many.’

The neurosurgeon’s death stunned the lavish neighborhood where he lived for decades, in the historic Boston-Edison district of Detroit.
The lucrative area is one of the most upscale neighborhoods in the city, and according to its website, numerous Michigan celebrities including heavyweight boxer Joe Louis and music legend Barry Gordy.
Hoover’s neighbor, Jonathan Shearrod, told the Detroit News: ‘It’s going to take some time to wrap your head around what has happened.’
He said the renowned neurosurgeon lived alone, but was an ‘anchor of the block’ and was ‘extremely involved in the neighborhood’, regularly hosting parties and functions in his lavish home.
‘I just can’t imagine anyone experiencing that in their home or just having to face that kind of terror where you live.’
