An Aussie dad had a priceless reaction to a venomous red-bellied black snake slithering past him while on a camping trip.

Queensland man Ross and his son had been camping in the outback when an unexpected visitor decided to crash their father-son trip.

His son captured the terrifying moment the snake glided through their campsite with the footage uploaded to TikTok

‘Don’t move dad, don’t move. It’ll just slither past you,’ the son said.

Ross is seen cradling a VB and watching the river as he sits motionless in his camping chair.

The snake slowly moves through the grass and out of harm’s way while the father and son remain perfectly silent.

Ross told 7News he didn’t hear the snake rustling up towards his camp chair, but managed to stay cool until it left.

Then he jumped up and ‘got the hell out of there.’

Red bellied black snakes are generally known to be shy of humans and reluctant to engage unless threatened.

Red-bellied black snakes are one of the most frequently encountered snakes on the east coast of Australia.

They are responsible for several bites every year but none have been fatal, according to the Australian Museum.

Red-bellied black snakes are venomous and the poison can make people sick.

Footage of the close encounter was uploaded to social media where it has been viewed more than 1.2million times.

TikTok users were quick to share their shock and disbelief.

Several praised the father for maintaining his level-headedness and not overreacting to the presence of the snake or startling the reptile.

‘Plot twist. Dad had no intention of moving,’ one wrote.

‘Dad doesn’t give a s*** as long as it doesn’t try to pinch his beer,’ another added.

One TikToker joked the man’s father had trained for years for a similar situation.

‘Dad understood the assignment. In fact, he’s been “don’t moving” for many years in training for this exact scenario.’
