Robert De Niro has gushed about the newest addition to his family, 10-month-old daughter Gia, and the ‘joy’ she brings him.
Speaking with People, the acting icon, 80, – who was recently nominated for an Oscar for his role in Killers of the Flower Moon – opened up about fatherhood and his thriving career in Hollywood.
De Niro became a father again at the age of 79 last year, welcoming daughter Gia with girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
‘She’s such an adorable baby. So sweet,’ he said of his bundle of joy. ‘[When I] look at her, everything else goes away. So it’s a great joy and relief to just be with her in the moment.’
The Godfather actor, 80, has six other other children; Drena, 56, and Raphael, 47 with his ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, Elliot, 25, and Helen, 12, with ex-wife Grace Hightower, and twins Aaron and Julian, 28, with former girlfriend, Toukie Smith.

His elder children ‘all get a big kick out of her,’ De Niro explained.
‘The grandkids even. She’s their aunt— [and] they’re about to be teenagers!’ he added.
Raphael is a father of three and Drena’s son Leandro De Niro Rodriguez died at age 19 last year.
De Niro also gushed about just how important family gatherings are to him: ‘The fact that they’d all be together,’ he said, ‘is everything to me.’
Last month De Niro became the recipient of another Oscar nomination when he was recognized for his role in Killers of the Flower Moon.
For his work playing William King Hale, he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. De Niro is already a two-time Oscar winner, having received trophies for The Godfather Part II and Raging Bull.
The actor said it felt ‘great’ to receive another Oscar nod, however didn’t celebrate the achievement by breaking out the champagne.
The legendary actor, whose career has spanned decades and includes roles in Taxi Driver and Goodfellas, also admitted he’s not currently considering retirement.
‘Not at the moment,’ he said.

In May 2023, De Niro announced he has recently welcomed a baby with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
When asked about his feelings about becoming a father again, at age 79, the New York native told Page Six that Chen’s pregnancy was ‘planned.’
‘I’m ok with it,’ the actor told Extra when asked if he was excited. ‘I’m good with it.’ When asked if becoming a parent ever gets easier the Taxi Driver quipped, ‘Never gets easier.’
De Niro confirmed the surprising new addition to his family during an interview with ET Canada, after he was asked what it was like to be a father of six children.
That is when he said he did not have six, but rather seven children, then shared that he recently welcomed a new child into his life.

‘I just had a baby,’ he said.
He did not share the name of the baby or the gender at the time of the interview.
Tiffany and Robert are thought to have first met in 2015 when they worked on the film The Intern together.
The film also starred Anne Hathaway as a workaholic CEO, with Robert working at her company as a senior intern.

Tiffany had a small role as a Tai Chi instructor who helps out Robert’s character.
Robert was spotted with Tiffany in August 2021 as they enjoyed a vacation in the South of France together.
The pair’s romance was evident as they were seen holding hands while strolling through the sunshine and were later seen kissing on a yacht.
They were also pictured together in New York in June and attended the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa on July 31, in pictures which appeared on social media but were later deleted.
At the time, the Raging Bull actor was locked in a bitter divorce battle with his now ex wife Grace Hightower.
In April 2022, a judge ruled that his ex-wife should receive $1 million annually and that the couple will split the proceeds after selling their $20 million home.
