Trump attacks ‘Liddle’ Mike Pence: Ex-President says he could have made others Vice President and insist he ‘never said anything bad to him’

  • It comes a day after Trump said Pence had gone to the ‘dark side’
  • Trump has used the ‘liddle’ insult against Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff
  • Pence hasn’t ruled out testifying for prosecutors in January 6 case

Former President Donald Trump hit his former Vice President Mike Pence with an insult he once leveled at nemesis Adam Schiff, mocking him as ‘liddle’ amid their clash over Trump’s demands over his role on January 6.

Trump tore into Pence after a series of escalating comments by his former VP, who said he didn’t have the authority to reject votes certified by states, that no one is ‘above the constitution’ – even while faulting Trump for listening to ‘crackpot’ lawyers.

‘I never said anything bad or even slightly inappropriate to Liddle’ Mike Pence. What I did do was make him, over the many people who wanted it, Vice President of the United States. Disloyalty in politics is alive and well. MAGA!!!’ Trump wrote.

Trump had also deployed the slight Saturday, even while his legal team was fending off a legal filing from special counsel Jack Smith after a federal judge warned him against doing anything to intimidate a potential witness following his third indictment.

‘WOW, it’s finally happened!’ Trump posted Saturday. ‘Liddle’ Mike Pence, a man who was about to be ousted as Governor Indiana until I came along and made him V.P., has gone to the Dark Side.’

Schiff was a key figure in Trump’s first impeachment.

Trump also specifically denied a statement from the indictment, about a phone call where he allegedly told Pence, ‘You’re too honest’ in a New Year’s Day, 2020 call while demanding he act refuse to accept the votes that would make Joe Biden president on January 6.

‘I never told a newly embolded … Pence to put me above the Constitution, or that Mike was ‘too honest.’ He’s delusional, and now he wants to show he’s a tough guy,’ Trump wrote.

Trump’s fresh attack came after Pence in comments to CBS ‘Face the Nation’ didn’t rule out being a witness for prosecutors who obtained a grand jury indictment against Trump for obstruction and interfering with an official government proceeding over his election overturn effort.

Pence told the network he had ‘no plans’ to testify, using language that didn’t rule out testimony. The latest indictment quotes from contemporaneous notes kept by Pence leading up to January 6.

‘But people can be confident we’ll obey the law, we’ll respond to the call of law, if it comes, and we’ll just tell the truth,’ said Pence said.

Pence is far behind Trump in the polls nationally and in swing states as both men seek to be the Republican presidential nominee, but his testimony could be powerful evidence in the case.

Pence told Fox News last week, after being featured conspicuously in the Trump indictment.

‘The American people deserve to know that President Trump and his advisers didn’t just ask me to pause. They asked me to reject votes, return votes, essentially to overturn the election,’ he said.

Had Trump listened to ‘his gaggle of crackpot lawyers,’ Pence predicted, ‘literally chaos would have ensued.’

Trump’s comment about elevating Pence ‘over the many people who wanted it’ recalls his vice presidential selection process in 2016. Besides Pence, two other reported finalists were former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Gingrich has remained a Trump loyalist. Christie is running against him for the nomination, and last month denounced him a ‘liar and a coward.’
