Brentford’s Yoane Wissa has named a former Chelsea player as one of the best individuals he’s ever come up against.
While the Chelsea attack includes stars such as Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer, West London rivals Brentford also have some serious firepower of their own.
It’s interesting to see that Yoane Wissa is one of two Brentford players included in the Premier League’s top scorers this season.
Player | Club | Goals |
Mohamed Salah | Liverpool | 28 |
Alexander Isak | Newcastle United | 23 |
Erling Haaland | Manchester City | 21 |
Chris Wood | Nottingham Forest | 19 |
Bryan Mbuemo | Brentford | 18 |
Yoane Wissa | Brentford | 18 |
Cole Palmer | Chelsea | 15 |
Ollie Watkins | Aston Villa | 15 |
Matheus Cunha | Wolverhampton Wanderers | 15 |
Chelsea should consider signing Bryan Mbuemo to reinforce their forward line after a stunning individual season in Brentford colours.

Yoane Wissa raves about Thiago Silva
Brentford centre-forward Wissa, 28, has raved about former Chelsea star Thiago Silva this week during an interview on The Obi One Podcast.
When asked about the best defender he’s come up against, Wissa said: “[Virgil] Van Dijk and Thiago Silva. There’s two different players. One is really, really strong, like he’s on you every time. You feel so small when you are beside him. And one is clever. Silva is so clever. I don’t say Van Dijk is not clever, but Thiago Silva is so clever. He’s always a step ahead of you. Honestly, he’s so good.”
At the end of last season, Silva left Chelsea on a free following the expiration of his contract. He walked away from Stamford Bridge last summer off the back of four incredible seasons with the Blues, though.
The veteran 40-year-old centre-back, who’s still playing in Brazil with Fluminense, created a brilliant legacy for himself at Chelsea in the twilight years of his career.
Like Wissa references, the Brazilian defender is a masterful tactician and reads the game so well.
In 155 Chelsea appearances, Silva played a major role in winning three trophies, including the Champions League in 2021.
Ian Wright claims Chelsea need someone like Thiago Silva in the current squad because it’s crying out for some experience and leadership to help it.

Who Chelsea thought could fill Thiago Silva void
Silva’s exit left Chelsea’s young group without any real obvious leader to look towards for help.
Back in May 2024, it was reported that Chelsea hoped they could fill the Thiago Silva void by looking towards Reece James and Ben Chilwell to grow into real senior figures at the club.
Unfortunately, Chilwell was exiled this season and joined Crystal Palace on loan in January. As for James, he’s still growing into his role as the club captain.
Enzo Maresca feels Reece James has grown as a leader as the season has progressed. For now, his focus should be on keeping himself fit and available after so many injury problems.
