Supporters of Donald Trump line up for his first major speech in D.C. since January 2021, braving the cold outside Capital One Arena.
Even though it was freezing outside, thousands of folks camped out to get in. The line was over a mile long, winding through Chinatown. Some were worried they might not even get in since the arena holds about 20,000 people.
No official speaker list has been shared yet, but people spotted some familiar faces, like Mike Lindell from MyPillow, who got a warm welcome from the crowd. Trump himself was at Arlington National Cemetery earlier with his family, probably gearing up for his speech later.
The arena will also be the spot for watching the Inaugural events on Monday since the cold pushed everything indoors. Trump mentioned on Truth Social that he’d be joining the crowd there after his swearing-in.
It’s still a bit unclear who will get into Capital One on Monday, especially with so many people expected for the inauguration. Security is tight, with a big perimeter around the Capitol and extra measures around the arena. They’re bringing in thousands of officers to keep things safe, and there are even protests planned. It’s definitely going to be an eventful few days!
