Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino isn’t a big favourite when you ask the club’s fanbase for their opinion of him, but there’s still been a lot of positive noise coming out of the camp.

From the outside looking in, Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino is well liked despite the team’s inconsistent results this season.

A lot of players have stood up for the Argentine manager over the course of the season. For example, speaking via Sky Sports in February, Conor Gallagher explained he “loves” playing under Mauricio Pochettino.

Marcus Bettinelli hails Chelsea manager

Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, 31, is the latest individual to heap praise on the coach.

Bettinelli’s the third-choice goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge who’s not played a single minute under Pochettino. In fact, the English shot-stopper has only made one senior appearance for the Blues since joining back in 2021.

It’s quite telling that a fringe man in the squad is still prepared to speak so glowingly about Pochettino.

“I’ve got a really good relationship with the gaffer, we speak on a daily basis. I’ve got a lot of respect for him and he’s got a lot of respect for me,” Bettinelli said via Chelsea’s official website.

“He’s a great man, so it’s nice that we have that relationship and we have that trust, where we can come to each other and I can go and see him and ask about certain things with days off or training, and stuff like that.”

Mauricio Pochettino future

We wanted Pochettino to succeed at Chelsea because he seems likeable as a man-manager and is working against the odds in some regard.

However, our honest feeling is he’s not getting enough from the group still, with some of his in-game tactical decisions very questionable.

Even if Pochettino’s popular with the squad, we may have lost faith in him in the dugout. It would take an outstanding finish to the season to convince us he deserves a second year in charge next campaign.
