Chelsea are reportedly set to be in contact with a Premier League side over potentially getting closer to signing one player this week.
The Blues are set to be busy this summer as they look to give adequate backing to yet another new manager at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.
Chelsea decided to hire Enzo Maresca as a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, and the fact that he has been handed a long contract suggests the club have a lot of faith that he can take the project into the future.
The Blues have already strengthened their ranks with the addition of Tosin Aderabioyo on a free transfer. It has been claimed that the player is excited about the prospect of working under the Italian.
It has also been claimed that the club are keen to bring in a new attacker, and have reportedly prioritised signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
Chelsea to speak about Michael Olise this week
It has been reported that there is a broad agreement on personal terms between the two parties, however they are rivalling Manchester United for a potential deal.
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack that while nothing is close at this stage, the Blues are set to speak to Palace this week about a potential deal.
He said: “Nothing is done yet, and nothing is ‘close’ in terms of the deal getting done, but Chelsea are putting the work in and have been speaking with his reps.
“The next step is pending too. Chelsea aim to speak to Palace this week and discuss the release clause. They aim to pay it in instalments and will need to agree this with Palace.”
Considering how strong wingers were in Maresca’s system at Leicester City last season, it could perhaps be the perfect addition the club could make.
This may seem a bit harsh on Noni Madueke however, after his strong form towards the end of the season made him undroppable.
