Chelsea can’t allow Conor Gallagher to leave the club at the end of the season.
That is according to talkSPORT’s Jeff Stelling.
Conor Gallagher, 24, has been a popular topic for discussion in the transfer rumour mill during recent months.
The Athletic claimed last month that Gallagher is likely to leave Chelsea in the summer unless there’s a big turnaround.
However, CaughtOffside reported after that there’s now a possibility around contract talks that could end up resulting in Gallagher staying at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking via Football.London recently, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino described Gallagher as “quality” and an “important player”.
Stelling insists that Chelsea must keep Gallagher as part of their squad moving forward.
“Now we’re in the situation where people know Chelsea need to rebuild, but they can’t afford a rebuild. And the lunacy of it is Conor Gallagher, their best player this season by a street, might have to be sacrificed so they can start some sort of rebuild. Completely unacceptable,” Stelling told talkSPORT.

Conor Gallagher must stay at Chelsea
We 100 per cent agree with the above!
Gallagher’s the driving force in Chelsea’s XI, providing the engine room in midfield.
A lot of players have fallen well below the expected standard this year, but the England international goes out there to usually put in a gritty and impressive performance each time.
His return of four goals and six assists is a little low for someone with his quality, but we’ve got faith in him to keep improving moving forward.
Our guess is that the Blues fanbase would be furious if Gallagher’s exit is allowed to happen in a few months time.
The 24-year-old’s one of the few positives to enjoy this season.
