Chelsea seem to be more than pleased with how the development of one of their youngsters is currently going.
Since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, Chelsea‘s focus in the transfer market has been on young players.
For example, the likes of Kendry Paez, Romeo Lavia, Andrey Santos and Angelo have all signed for the club.
Out of those names, though, Lavia is the only one who has been part of the first team.
Paez will not actually be able to link-up with the Blues until he turns 18.

Chelsea delighted
It is going to be a bit longer before Chelsea supporters get to see Paez in a blue shirt.
However, it could be well worth the wait, with the club happy with the progress that he is making at Independiente del Valle and with the Ecuador national team.
By the time the 17-year-old arrives at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea could already have an incredible player on their hands it seems.
Speaking about Paez after Ecuador’s 1-0 defeat to Argentina, Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “CFC extremely happy with his progress and waiting to welcome Kendry at Cobham.”
Kendry Paez good enough to play for Chelsea now
At the rate Paez is developing at, he could probably do a job for Chelsea at this very moment.
Not even 18 yet, he is already playing on the international stage, against a powerhouse like Messi’s Argentina.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, FIFA regulations prevent him from linking up with the club now.
But again, when the time comes, Chelsea could have something special in their ranks.
They will not stop with Paez either. They are very close to signing another teenager, Estevao Willian, from Palmeiras.
At the same time, though, it is important that Chelsea do not forget about the present. Their squad was not good enough to finish in the top four last season. That needs to change going into the 2024/25 campaign.
