Jamie O’Hara claims that there’s a player in Chelsea’s first-team squad that they would have “no chance” of selling if they put him up for sale.

The minds of Chelsea supporters may already be moving towards the upcoming summer transfer window.

First of all, the Blues wrap up their 2023/24 season on Sunday when they host Bournemouth on the final day of the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side go into the weekend sixth in the table, knowing they’ll seal European qualification if they avoid defeat at Stamford Bridge against Bournemouth.

But how many of this current squad will move forward into next season?

Jamie O’Hara claims Chelsea would find it impossible to sell attacker

TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara says Chelsea would run into a brick wall if they attempted to sell Raheem Sterling.

He thinks that the left-winger mammoth £325,000-a-week salary (Spotrac) means the Blues are stuck with him.

Sterling signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge when he joined from Manchester City for £50m (BBC) back in the summer of 2022, so he’s still got another three years left on his contract.

When responding to a Chelsea fan that wants Sterling to be sold, O’Hara said on talkSPORT (11:10pm, 15 May): “The problem is good luck getting rid of Raheem Sterling, who’s on £300,000-a-week. Who is going to pay him that? No chance.

“Chelsea gave him the contract, honour the contract. If you don’t fancy him no more, that’s your problem for signing him on a long-term deal. I hate it when people say he’s just going to sit on the bench and take the money. You gave him the contract. What do you want him to do walk away from millions of pounds?

“He’s trying to do his best. He walks on the pitch and gives his best. Is it good enough for Chelsea? Maybe not, but you’ve paid him that.”

Raheem Sterling is linked with potential move

Despite the reservations above, there’s transfer rumours out there regarding Sterling’s future at Chelsea.

He’s scored nine goals and made eight assists in all competitions this season, but he’s certainly not lived up to the hype at Stamford Bridge.

GiveMeSport reported back in March that Sterling is ‘almost certain’ to be sold by Chelsea at the end of the season because it’s agreed as the best next step by all parties.
