Pundit Steve McManaman has made a bold claim when he was asked who was the bigger club out of Chelsea and Arsenal.

It is often a debate amongst supporters of both sides as to who takes this crown, with Arsenal certainly being on top over the last two seasons.

One player who certainly reaped the rewards of this was Kai Havertz after he made the switch across London last summer.

While Blues supporters certainly don’t miss what he brought to their side, it can’t be denied he reached heights last season he never had before in his career.

Chelsea are set to be absent from the Champions League for the second consecutive campaign next time out after they missed out on the top four in what turned out to be their only season under Mauricio Pochettino.

McManaman names Chelsea as bigger than Arsenal

It is this competition which McManaman believes separates the two sides over their history, telling the Daily Mail that he believes the Blues are the bigger side.

He said: “Chelsea have won the Champions League, Arsenal haven’t won the Champions League. I’d have to go for – with the history of the clubs and everything – I’d have to go for Chelsea, but they’re a mess at the moment.”

Chelsea appoint Enzo Maresca

Chelsea are looking to go into the future with new manager Enzo Maresca at the helm, with attention turning to which players they are looking to sign in order to give him the platform to succeed.

It is believed it is only a matter of time until Tosin Adarabioyo is announced as a new player after completing his medical at the club.

In terms of attacking reinforcements, the player strongest linked with the Blues right now is Michael Olise, who lit up the Premier League as part of the Crystal Palace side.

However, the Blues face a battle with Manchester United to secure his signature this summer, as well as convincing him to leave Selhurst Park in the first place.
