One Chelsea player does not seem too confident about getting a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Thiago Silva‘s existing deal expires at the end of the season and Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that the central defender feels that he will not be handed an extension.
The transfer expert was giving an update on The Here We Go Podcast.
Silva was dropped for Chelsea‘s 3-1 win against Aston Villa in the FA Cup last week and also had to speak to Mauricio Pochettino after a controversial social media post from his wife Belle.
In it, she appeared to call for the Argentine to be sacked.

Thiago Silva not confident about new contract
According to Romano, Silva is not expecting Chelsea to renew his contract.
On the Brazilian’s situation at Stamford Bridge, the Italian journalist said: “From what I’m told, the feeling on both club and player side is that this contract is not going to be extended. This is not something final, so we can’t guarantee that yet and we know that many things can still change.
“But as of today, February, I would say that there is a good chance for Thiago Silva and Chelsea to part ways at the end of the season.”

Who could Thiago Silva join if he leaves Chelsea?
A return to Brazil looks the most likely outcome if Silva does not put pen to paper on a new deal.
The 39-year-old used to play for Fluminense and they have been heavily linked with their former defender.
Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has even gone on record to say that he wants to bring Silva back to the club.
While the Brazil international is almost 40, he is still a top centre-half. Team-mate Levi Colwill has described him as an “amazing” footballer.
Nevertheless, Chelsea still look ready to part ways with the legendary defender at the end of the season and head in a different direction.
