From now until the summer, everyone will have an opinion on which players should make the final 23-man England squad for the Euro 2024 tournament. That responsibility and pressure will ultimately fall on Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate, though.
Jill Scott, the legendary retired England woman’s footballer, has named her final squad she would take to Germany. Our guess is Chelsea fans won’t be very pleased with her picks!
Chelsea had three representatives away with Southgate’s camp during this international break, with Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer all present.
So, how many Blues stars will still be in contention when the final England squad is named for the summer’s major international tournament?
Speaking on Channel 4 during a highlight show of England’s 2-2 draw against Belgium yesterday, Jill Scott named her preferred 23-man squad for the Euros.
Jill Scott’s final England squad
Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, Sam Johnstone
Defence: John Stones, Harry Maguire, Lewis Dunk, Luke Shaw, Rico Lewis, Kyle Walker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kieran Trippier

Attack: Jarrod Bowen, Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane, Ivan Toney
No Chelsea players picked
Remarkably, there’s not a single Chelsea player that has made the cut for Jill Scott’s squad.
Of course, everyone’s allowed their own opinion. The beauty of international football is that it sparks constant debate up and down the country, too.
But our view is that there has simply to be room for some Chelsea stars on the plane for England.
For starters, there’s very few individuals in Europe right now having a better individual campaign than 21-year-old attacking playmaker Palmer. He was unfortunate not to get any minutes for England in the last week, but he’s certainly on our plane and pushing to play.
As for Gallagher and Chilwell, they both make our squad as well.
Chilwell’s a rare decent option in this country at left-back. Meanwhile, speaking via talkSPORT recently, Scott Minto predicted that Blues midfielder Gallagher will definitely be picked for the Euros.
