Two former Chelsea managers have been pretty newsworthy over the last seven days, in a time where the Blues have just announced the next to add to that list.

Carlo Ancelotti continued his domination of European football in the modern era, as his Real Madrid side beat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.

The victory saw former Blue Antonio Rudiger win the competition for the first time since making the move, whilst loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga added the second Champions League title again.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho finally made his way back into the managerial game. After it emerged that he was never a candidate for the Chelsea role, he has now officially joined Fenerbache.

The two are arguably the best managers in recent history at Stamford Bridge, and one player who has experience under both of them is Joe Cole.

However, he only chose one of them as his favourite in history, when speaking in an interview to TNT Sports.

He said: “Favourite has got to be Harry Redknapp or Glenn Roeder. Best is probably Mourinho, you would have loved him. I think he would have loved you as well.”

A statistic which emerged today showed that neither are actually the most succesful manager in Chelsea’s history since Roman Abramovich took over as owner 20 years ago,

Instead, it is actually Avram Grant that holds that honour, potentially surprising supporters.

Mourinho has remained a popular figure amongst supporters at Stamford Bridge too, with them frequently chanting his name when things were not going to well last season.

It was Mauricio Pochettino in charge at that stage, however he only lasted a single campaign before being replaced this summer.

Enzo Maresca was the candidate the club decided to hire in his place, with everyone keen to get going when he takes over in July.

With him reportedly having plans in place already to get the best out of Enzo Fernandez, there is certainly an element of excitement that comes with the risk of bringing in the inexperienced head coach.
