Mauricio Pochettino’s future at Chelsea has been a big talking point recently.

With his contract expiring next year and Chelsea not having the best season, it is something that Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about publicly.

That being said, the Blues have performed really well under the Argentine of late.

Following a string of victories against Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, Chelsea are now level on points with sixth-placed Newcastle United.

Pochettino is backing his work, reportedly telling his bosses that he is the right man to take the club forward.

Chelsea’s Premier League rivals could become interested in Mauricio Pochettino

Pochettino has met with Manchester United’s owners INEOS before about the Nice job, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, and the journalist thinks the 52-year-old to Old Trafford could be one to watch if he does depart Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Speaking to NBC Sports before United’s 1-0 loss against Arsenal, Ornstein said: “If Mauricio Pochettino is to leave, I’m sure there will be a number of vacancies and people looking at him because of his career so far.

“I mean, he’s been heavily linked at this club Manchester United in the past. He met with INEOS about the Nice job some time ago, so there are some links there.

“Maybe his carrot style of management is fitting to the carrot style that INEOS like to exhibit themselves. I’m not saying he is in the frame by any means, but it is just one to watch.”

Another reason for Chelsea to keep hold of Mauricio Pochettino

At this stage, unless Chelsea get absolutely battered in their next two games and finish in eighth, it would be harsh to sack Pochettino.

They have probably shown enough improvement this term for Pochettino to get into the second year of his contract.

For example, his side have scored 73 goals in the Premier League. In the previous campaign, they managed just 38.

Pochettino does improve the team that he has, and the possibility of the former Paris Saint-Germain boss ending up at one of Chelsea’s rivals in United is another reason for the club not to get rid of him when this season concludes.
