Reports have stated that another Champions League winner at Chelsea could be about to make the move into management.

The most notable example of this happening before is with Frank Lampard, who at this stage has two tenures at Stamford Bridge under his belt.

He led them to Champions League football with a very young side after losing Eden Hazard, and setting them up for victory in the competition under Thomas Tuchel.

The club’s record scorer also came in late last season in an attempt to steady the ship, although this did not help their fortunes on the way to a mid-table finish.

Lampard is currently not in a job, with his latest tenure at Everton coming to an end despite a dramatic relegation survival.

Now, it has been reported that one of his closest teammates could be about to follow him into the management game.

Ashley Cole wanted by Championship clubs

It has been claimed by The Mirror that Ashley Cole is keen to move from the backroom staff to the hotseat in the dugout, and there is interest in hiring him by a string of Championship clubs.

If he was to get his first job in the professional game, he would have taken a step further down the line than his former teammate John Terry did in his quest to become a manager.

Richard Keys recently claimed that Chelsea could do a lot worse than hiring Terry as a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino a few months ago.

Pochettino turning things around

However, the Argentine has somewhat turned fortunes around right now at Stamford Bridge, with it looking more likely than not that they will be playing European football of some description next season.

It has been claimed though that the owners are demanding Europa League as a minimum for next campaign, with the Blues still needing some results to go their way before that is secured.
