Chelsea could face competition from Liverpool for one of their key targets this summer.

Chelsea‘s Premier League rivals could be forced to sign a new winger because of interest in Mohamed Salah.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are bracing themselves for an approach from Saudi Arabia for their star forward.

Salah’s former club could also do business with a Saudi Arabian side this summer it seems.

Journalist Rudy Galetti recently claimed that Romelu Lukaku moving to the Saudi Pro League is now very likely.

Liverpool considering Chelsea target as potential Mohamed Salah replacement

Chelsea could bring in another winger ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Mauricio Pochettino already has the likes of Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke who can play out wide, but it looks like the club feel that there is still room for improvement in that area of the pitch.

Last month, journalist Nicolo Schira reported that Chelsea are leading the race for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

However, according to Sportslens, Liverpool are also very keen on him as they prepare for Salah’s potential departure.

The same outlet claims that the 21-year-old has a release clause of around £42m.

What has Nico Williams won in his career?

At 21, Williams is still obviously quite a young player. He is still early into his career.

However, the Spain international has already won the Copa del Rey, helping Athletic to beat Real Mallorca on penalties on Saturday.

Williams had a superb tournament, scoring three goals and providing five assists in six games.

It is not hard to see why both Chelsea and Liverpool want him. Out of the two, though, you would have to make the latter the favourites in any potential transfer battle.

The Reds will be back in the Champions League next season, while the Blues could miss out on European football once again. Of course, that did not stop Chelsea from winning the race for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, so who knows what will happen here?
