Chelsea’s loss could be Manchester United’s gain this summer.

The Blues have made a lot of transfer mistakes down the years, letting go of the likes of Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne too early.

Today, the Liverpool and Manchester City stars are probably the two best players in the Premier League.

Chelsea have also let go of the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley recently, which some may now view as a mistake as well.

Hudson-Odoi was allowed to join Nottingham Forest last summer, while Barkley moved to Nice in 2022 before signing for Luton in August. Both players have performed well in the top flight this season.

Manchester United interested in former Chelsea player

Hudson-Odoi has scored four league goals for Forest and is currently completing 1.7 dribbles per game, which is the highest average in his squad (WhoScored).

As for Barkley, he is on course to finish the campaign with at least 10 goal contributions in the Premier League after scoring four times and assisting on four occasions.

It is not bad given the quality of team the 30-year-old is playing in, and it seems that he has done enough to catch United’s attention.

According to FootballTransfers, the Red Devils have now made Barkley a target, believing that he could be a perfect squad player for them because of his experience and versatility.

Andros Townsend thought he was “unbelievable” in one of Luton’s matches earlier this season.

Will Chelsea regret letting go of Ross Barkley?

Barkley is performing now, but it never really happened for him at Chelsea.

He had some injury problems and was never able to cement a place in the Blues’ starting XI.

Chelsea lost him for nothing, with the midfielder joining Nice on a free transfer, but he did not have the lowest salary at Stamford Bridge and was not playing.

Even if Barkley goes on to join United and really shine there, no one can blame Chelsea for offloading the former Everton man.
