Chelsea have not been shy to spend big money since the change of ownership came through at Stamford Bridge.

Todd Boehly has facilitated the club spending near enough £1 billion since his acquisition of the club, with some of those additions going down better than others.

They have smashed their club-record for fees twice already since the American took over, bringing in both Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo to the midfielder.

The most impressive signing up to now has clearly been Cole Palmer, who was actually the last player they spent any money on back on deadline day last summer.

The England international turned out to be arguably the signing of the entire season, and was in the conversation for the most impressive player throughout the entire campaign.

However, it is fair to say there has been plenty of signings which have not worked out to this level, with some not even still being at Stamford Bridge.

Kalidou Koulibaly named ‘terrible’ Chelsea signing

One of those players is Kalidou Koulibaly, who lasted just a season in English football following his £33m move before making the move to Saudi Arabia.

Chelsea fan and pundit Jason Cundy told TalkSPORT that he believes the Senegal international was up to now was a truly terrible signing.

He said: “No doubt mistakes have been made. Koulibaly came in. That was a terrible acquisition. Wrong player at the wrong time because he may well have been a good player once, but we were getting him at the back end of his career. He was terrible.”

Chelsea building without Thiago Silva

The centre-back role has looked very different every season so far in Boehly’s era, and is set to again after the departure of Thiago Silva following a solid tenure at the club.

The Blues have already looked to rebuild with the free signing of Tosin Adarabioyo, after they beat a number of Premier League sides to his signature following him leaving Fulham at the end of his contract.
