Chelsea’s run of hiring and firing managers has not stopped with the change of ownership.

The latest to join a long line of head coaches has just become Enzo Maresca. He has been handed a lengthy contract with the intention of him taking the project deep into the future.

There were some eyebrows raised when Mauricio Pochettino was given the sack, when taking into account the strong end to the season which saw him secure some form of European football for next season.

However, taking his whole reign into account, the successes were far and away from what Chelsea fans have been used to in the modern era.

When thinking back to the tenures of Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, and even Antonio Conte at times, the comparison is night and day based on then and the recent years.

However, it is none of these who have been statistically the most successful manager at Stamford Bridge as far as win rate goes.

Avram Grant has best Chelsea win rate

Instead, it is one of Mourinho’s replacements, Avram Grant, who boasts the best record in the club’s modern era.

According to OptaJoe, he picked up 36 wins in his 54 games in charge of the club.

Having players like Frank Lampard and John Terry to call upon on a weekly basis was no doubt a boost for Grant, however owners of the club while be hoping for a switch back in this direction with their most recent hiring.

Maresca comes in without any experience as a Premier League boss, although it has been claimed that the players at the club don’t seem too concerned by this.

Cole Palmer, who has experience working under the Italian at Manchester City, has been one of the vocal supporters of the new man coming in, and will no doubt be equally as crucial on the pitch again next season.
