Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin did some commentary over the weekend in the Blues’ 3-1 win against Liverpool.

It was a game that would have excited Nevin and others watching, with Chelsea taking the lead in just the third minute through Enzo Fernandez.

Real Madrid want to sign Fernandez this summer, but the Blues will not want to sell him, especially after his latest performance.

It was also a match that saw Mohamed Salah fail to score, which has been a rarity this season.

Pat Nevin on Chelsea fans booing Mohamed Salah

Salah was once on Chelsea’s books, joining the club from Basel back in 2014.

He is now a legend at one of the Blues’ fiercest rivals, and it looks like some Chelsea supporters do not appreciate that fact.

He was booed by some on Sunday, surprising Nevin, who is refusing to blame the forward for leaving Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on the Monday Night Club, he said: “I got one at the weekend there, which I was absolutely staggered by. Doing the commentary in the Liverpool game and Salah came on the ball and he got booed by a load of Chelsea fans. I went, ‘What, where did that come from?’ I really couldn’t get it. Yes, he played for Chelsea, but it wasn’t really [his fault he left].”

For once, it was not Salah who stole the show, with Cole Palmer being the man to win all of the plaudits following Chelsea’s win against Liverpool.

During the game, former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville claimed that Palmer was the best player on the pitch. The attacking midfielder was heavily involved in Chelsea’s first two goals before netting himself in stoppage time.

Wayne Rooney loved Marc Cucurella’s performance against Mohamed Salah

One reason why Salah was unable to score against Chelsea was because of Marc Cucurella‘s excellent defending.

It was something that another ex-United star, Wayne Rooney, noticed and spoke about after the game.

When Rooney discussed Salah, he said: “I was really impressed with Cucurella today. I really liked how aggressive he was against Mo Salah.

“He didn’t really give Salah any joy today to get anything from the game… Really aggressive; as a full-back, you have to do this. If you give Salah the time to get at you, he can cause you massive problems.”

Fortunately for Salah, he does not have to come up against Cucurella every week. Under Enzo Maresca, the Spaniard has developed into one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.

Cucurella can defend, attack and make himself an option in midfield when inverting. He has scored four goals in the top flight this season, which is not bad for a left-back.
