Cesare Casadei has been strongly linked with a move away from Chelsea in the current transfer window.
The future of Cesare Casadei, 22, has been a big talking point at Chelsea this month. He’s only made six first-team appearances across all competitions this season, so it’s not a major surprise that rumours emerged about him possibly leaving Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca admitted it’s best if Casadei leaves Chelsea because he’s not playing regularly under his management.
Chelsea are attempting to sell Casadei with a big sell-on clause amid interest from Serie A clubs Lazio, Torino and Fiorentina. The latest rumours suggest that he’s edging closer to a transfer exit before the window shuts on 3 February.

Cesare Casadei waits for ‘green light’ from Chelsea to leave
Journalist Nicolo Schira has claimed via X on Thursday morning that Chelsea midfielder Casadei is set to fly to Rome as soon as possible to have a medical with Italian club Lazio.
Apparently, the 22-year-old’s confirmed his desire to join Serie A outfit Lazio and he could sign for them on a four-year deal.
Casadei is now waiting for the ‘green light’ from Chelsea on the transfer.
Napoli were leading the race to sign Casadei from Chelsea earlier in January, but fresh rumours suggest he could be on the way to Italian rivals Lazio.
Lazio currently sit fourth spot in the Serie A division table. Plus, they’re top of the league phase in this season’s Europa League campaign.
It’s not worked out for Casadei at Chelsea, largely because he’s never had a consistent run in the side, but he’s still a developing central midfielder with big potential. Therefore, we do expect him to thrive and improve when he returns to his native Italy.

What Thomas Tuchel once said about Cesare Casadei
There was plenty of excitement when the Blues signed Casadei from Inter Milan back in 2022. It looks like he’ll leave after only 17 first-team appearances in Chelsea colours, though.
Thomas Tuchel spoke highly of Casadei when he first joined Chelsea. The former Blues manager said: “He’s (Casadei) a box-to-box midfielder, very strong with the head, very physical for his age.”
It might be time to place more scrutiny on the transfer strategy under the current Chelsea owners because they’ve signed so many youngsters in recent window. How many will get a realistic chance to make it a first-team player, though?
