Enzo Maresca will be hoping that Chelsea are going to continue to be active in the transfer window during the month of January.
The Blues have so far only added Trevoh Chalobah to their ranks after recalling him from his loan, with a number of other players high up on their list.
Despite looking at signing the likes of Jamie Gittens and Marc Guehi this month, Chelsea have continued to have an eye on the future when it comes to any additions they can make.
Chelsea agree deal to sign Mamadou Sarr
It has been a key element of Todd Boehly and co’s time as owners of the club that the Blues have looked to keep their future looking bright. The highly-regarded signings of Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez have been a sign of this.
A defender has reportedly been on their radar to fit this bill too, and they seem to have come to the conclusion that Mamadou Sarr is the perfect option.
Matt Law described their transfer target as an ‘unnamed young defender’, and there had been no links between the club and the player up until now.
The centre-back has 12 league appearances under his belt for Strasbourg this season and has been a key part of the BlueCo side enjoying a very positive season in Ligue 1.
Journalist Fabrice Hawkins has claimed that Chelsea have now agreed a deal to sign Sarr at the end of the season, with the two parties coming to an agreement on a long-term deal.
He said: “EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea is set to sign talent Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg. Agreement between the player and Chelsea for a long term contract
“Negotiation ongoing between the clubs – both owned by BlueCo – transfer fee around 20M€. Strasbourg will keep the defender on loan.”
