There has been plenty of recent transfer speculation regarding Chelsea and a potential move to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
Marc Guehi, 24, actually developed in the Chelsea academy before making a name for himself away from Stamford Bridge.
Since Guehi joined Palace in 2021, he’s become a superb Premier League defender and forced his way into the England national team. Could he end up re-signing for the Blues this year, though?
Chelsea’s pursuit to sign Guehi in January hanged in the balance after they decided to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Selhurst Park.
There’s now some further developments about the Blues’ interest in the centre-back.

Chelsea are adamant they’ll sign Marc Guehi in 2025
According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea will remain patient in their pursuit to bring Guehi back to the club.
It is understood that Palace don’t want to allow their centre-half to leave in the current January window and have put a £70m price tag on him to deter suitors. Incidentally, Chelsea can claim a 20 per cent discount because of a sell-on clause that exists from when they sold him to the Eagles.
The report explains that the Blues believe the England international has a firm interest in rejoining them, so the club’s hierarchy are prepared to wait until the summer.
In addition, Chelsea are ‘adamant’ that they’ll eventually sign Guehi, with no concerns that anybody else will beat them in the transfer race. They’re sure he’ll join them whether it’s in the mid-season window or in the summer.
Thomas Tuchel backed Chelsea’s decision to sell Guehi a few years ago. In fairness, he’s taken a path that’s got him to where he is today, which is as a quality 24-year-old central defender in the top division.

What Enzo Maresca makes of Marc Guehi
It sounds like Chelsea are confident and intent on signing Guehi in 2025, so what does the Blues head coach make of him?
Enzo Maresca has preferred Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana as his main centre-back partnership this season before the latter’s latest injury blow. Therefore, it does feel like the club are crying out for a new marquee addition in the heart of defence.
Chelsea boss Maresca is a ‘huge fan’ of Palace’s Guehi amid all the transfer speculation. Will the pair soon unite in West London, though?
Guehi definitely has the talent and the temperament to make a big transfer, and it’s looking like a return to Chelsea is firmly on the cards in this calendar year.
