Several Chelsea attackers are attracting interest right now, which will come as no surprise.
Enzo Maresca has a squad filled with attacking talent, including Cole Palmer, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku.
Presently, Felix is being linked with a move to AC Milan. It has been reported that Milan want to sign Felix over Marcus Rashford this month.
It is thought that Nkunku is also on Milan’s radar, while Bayern Munich are said to be keen on him, too. However, it could be another club who win the race for the Frenchman.
Christopher Nkunku could replace Raphinha at Barcelona
Raphinha is having a stunning season at Barcelona. Hansi Flick will not want to lose him.
However, if he does, according to Sky Sport CH, Barcelona could consider signing Nkunku from Chelsea.
The outlet claims that his representatives are “extremely active” in the market and that the 27-year-old could become a target for Barcelona in the summer if the above happens.
Nkunku has already been linked with a January move to Barcelona, but a switch this month seems unlikely because of all of their financial issues.
Christopher Nkunku’s vision has been praised in the past
In Germany, where he could be heading back to if Bayern get their wish, Nkunku established himself as a real goalscorer.
For example, in his penultimate season at RB Leipzig, the 27-year-old scored 35 goals in 52 appearances.
However, Nkunku has also been praised for his creativity. “I was immediately drawn to him, even if he was playing youth football,” former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan was quoted as saying by the Bundesliga’s official website.
“It was immediately obvious that he had the DNA of a footballer. He was playing through the middle and was clearly a cut above. He wasted little and had perfect vision.”
Whether Nkunku still has that creativity and enough flair to replace a wide man like Raphinha remains to be seen, though. From what they have seen from the France international this season, Chelsea fans would probably say he doesn’t.
While Nkunku has been able to score goals when called upon by Maresca, his all-round play has left a lot to be desired. Whatever the case, a Stamford Bridge exit at some point is starting to look really likely.
