Chelsea’s announcement of their squad who would be taking part in the Club World Cup shone some light on the players who are not currently in the plans for the manager.
Enzo Maresca made the decision to leave out the likes of Djordje Petrovic and Joao Felix from those who travelled to the United States, as the club look to solve their futures.
Petrovic has been told he can leave the club, with it looking as if there is going to be some big change to the goalkeeper position this summer.
Marcus Bettinelli has already moved on to Manchester City, with questions being asked about who is going to fill the role of third-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming campaign.
One player who was a candidate is Teddy Sharman-Lowe, who has spent a number of the past few seasons on loan at various EFL clubs.
It looks as if there is set to be no change in the immediate future for the youngster, who according to Simon Johnson is set to move to Bolton in the upcoming hours.
He went on to say that this has come after signing a new deal with the club, committing the next two years of his career to the Blues.
He said: “New deal for Chelsea keeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe and season-long loan to Bolton expected to be confirmed tomorrow. Two years plus option for 12 months.”
Who is Teddy Sharman-Lowe?
The 22-year-old has spent time on loan at Doncaster, Bromley, Havant and Waterlooville and Burton Albion as part of his development.
He has achieved big praise during his time at Stamford Bridge, being described as ‘promising’ by Penalty Online.
It remains to be seen who takes the role of third-choice in West London, however the responsibility could fall to youngster Mike Penders, who is currently with the squad in the United States.
Penders is backing himself to be good enough already to play for Chelsea, and may see his opportunity come sooner than many thought.
