Chelsea picked up a vital win over Liverpool on Sunday to boost their chances of Champions League qualification this season.
Even though Liverpool secured their status as this season’s Premier League champions last week, they suffered a 3-1 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
In the opening few minutes, Enzo Fernandez put the hosts ahead with a clinical finish at the end of a great team move. The Blues then doubled their advantage in the 56th minute via Jarell Quansah’s bizarre own goal.
Virgil van Dijk pulled one back with a header from a corner for Liverpool, but Cole Palmer’s penalty kick in stoppage time wrapped up three points.
Prior to the weekend’s result, Glenn Hoddle predicted Chelsea wouldn’t get in the Champions League positions, which goes to the Premier League’s top five spots. However, they appear to be in a much more positive place going into their final three matches against Newcastle United (away), Manchester United (away) and Nottingham Forest (away).

Chelsea fans super impressed by Pedro Neto against Liverpool
The likes of Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia were brilliant in Chelsea colours versus Liverpool, but a selection of supporters on social media all loved what they saw from Pedro Neto in attack.
Neto, 25, was a constant threat from the right wing in Sunday’s league success. He even played through the middle at striker in the closing stages.
It was his superb cross to assist Fernandez that got the Blues on their way.
Here are Chelsea fans on X delivering a glowing assessment of Neto’s individual display at home to Liverpool.
One fan wrote: “Pedro Neto has destroyed Konstantinos Tsimikas all match. Excellent performance.”
“Pedro Neto is unreal! Love the boy!” another posted.
One supporter claimed: “Pedro Neto has improved massively too.”
“Pedro Neto is an absolute nightmare for full-backs,” another said.
Finally, one fan uploaded: “Pedro Neto, what a player.”
Tony Cascarino’s assessment of Pedro Neto during a recent interview is that he can become a top player if he finds more consistency. Well, the left-footed wide man has definitely started to find a better rhythm in his game more recently.

Pedro Neto statistics against Liverpool
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca named Pedro Neto’s best position as a right-winger, which we definitely agree with.
The skilful Portuguese star was a real threat against Liverpool with his speed, directness and dribbling.

Unlike large spells of the season, Blues wingers Neto, Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho all appear to be hitting form at the same time. It’s certainly making for great competition and a selection headache for the manager.
