Chelsea fans have had the opportunity to get a closer look at Geovany Quenda during the U21 Euros, and will be very impressed with what they have seen so far.
Quenda was praised for his first display in the competition, however Portugal were unable to convert their dominance into three points.
That changed when they faced Poland in their second group game, completing a 5-0 rout that the youngster was crucial in.
Quenda scored twice and assisted once before being replaced at half-time, clearly resting him for the remaining games in the competition.
Polish media were in awe of Quenda’s display, and Chelsea fans couldn’t help but begin to get excited over him joining up with them in 12 months’ time.
Chelsea fans compare Geovany Quenda to Estevao Willian after U21 Euros display
Blues supporters took to social media to laud the winger, while even questioning if he is on the same level as fellow young talent Estevao Willian.
One user said: “Geovany Quenda is a generational talent, the Youngest Player at the U21 Euros. And doing this in just one half, 2 goals and an assist, his passing was always elite. But that finish on his weaker foot, Chelsea have something special on their hands.”
Another added: “I wonder who has a higher ceiling at RW between Estevao & Quenda All I can say is Chelsea have struck gold with these two Tier A talents. Kudos to the recruitment team The ST, CAM & RW spots are on lock for years just need to sort out the left flank and we’re gucci.”
A third stated: “This Geovany Quenda performance is a reminder of what’s to come for Chelsea. Have we approached this Project in a perfect manner? Absolutely not, but you can’t question our ambition.”
Another claimed: “Again, Geovany Quenda must be protected at all costs, Chelsea fans. He has it all.”
Finally, one user said: “Chelsea are quietly assembling one of the most electrifying young cores in world football — Geovany Quenda, Estevão Willian, and Andrey Santos. Each one has a ceiling so high, you’d need a telescope to see it.”
Quenda tipped for big things at Chelsea
Chelsea had to beat Manchester United to the signing of the youngster, who many believed was set to follow Ruben Amorim to Old Trafford.
Now he has joined, a number of people with knowledge of his game are very excited about what he can do at a top European club.
Former Premier League star Nani has waxed lyrical about Quenda, with the countdown now on until he makes his Chelsea debut.
The future is incredibly bright in West London, and Estevao and Quenda are the leading lights as far as Todd Boehly’s project goes.
