Chelsea have finally announced their first official signing of what is shaping up to be an exciting summer transfer window.
The Blues have just revealed the addition of Liam Delap after activating his relegation release clause following Ipswich Town’s return to the Championship.
It has been reported Delap rejected ‘crazy money’ to join Everton and become the face of their project, with him seeming to prefer to feature for a side in the Champions League next season.
Enzo Maresca no doubt played a part in his move, with the pair working together during their time as part of the Manchester City academy.

After being announced as the latest member of the Chelsea squad, Delap spoke to the Chelsea website to share his first thoughts about his future at Stamford Bridge.
The striker hinted he was really excited about what to come, whilst stating how highly he rated the current players at the club.
He said: “I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach. It’s going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here.
“I wanted to come here to win trophies. When I spoke to the club, everyone wanted to get back to the very top, and they have the quality and the players to do that.
“The hunger and desire to keep adding trophies, to take the club back to where it belongs, that is the main objective.”
It is clear that Chelsea have signed a player who is looking to add trophies to his personal cabinet, and the Blues have already made the first step towards making that a regular occurence.
They won the Conference League last season, and Blues fans will be delighted to hear that they have added another player who is hungry to succeed and continue to lead the project into a bright future.

Enzo Maresca handed warning about Liam Delap
Now Delap has joined, it looks as if he is going to be up against Nicolas Jackson for the starting place up front at Stamford Bridge.
While the manager can feel confident he has increased his firepower, he has already been handed advice over how to utilise him best.
Chris Sutton warned Maresca he needs to play to Delap’s strengths if he is to reap the rewards of this signing, and this could be a problem for the Senegal international going forwards.
Jackson is reportedly unhappy at Chelsea, and a move away from the club cannot be discounted at this time.
